Welcome and Introduction

Greetings 8th graders and families!

I'm Paul Rubio, the Tuesday evening catechist for grade 8.

I welcome you to the new Religious Education year of 2024-25.

I started teaching 11 years ago with a passion for sharing the abundant faith I had coming out of college, and I'm overjoyed to be starting my 12th year of teaching RE.

I grew up in Oak Park and attended local schools: I am Irving Class of 2002, Julian Class of 2005, and OPRFHS Class of 2009.  I attended the Ascension Religious Education program for grades 7 and 8, after my family had been part of the St. Giles Family Mass Community for several years.

I have my MLIS degree from Dominican University, and I currently work behind the scenes as a cataloger at the Addison Public Library.

This website will contain updates about what we're learning in class, including any videos or resources I share, with applicable links.  I will post 1-2 times per month.

E-mail is the best way to reach me, and I have provided it to all the parents.

I look forward to the ways we will encounter God together this year.

God's blessings,
Paul Rubio

This past summer, I attended the 10th National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, which was a truly awe-inspiring experience. Here I am inside Lucas Oil Stadium, where many of the sessions were held.  I'm posing by a portrait of the Blessed Mother Mary, the patroness for the Marian Route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage that passed through the Archdiocese of Chicago.
